Within the installation, plant intelligence and artificial intelligence coexist, learning together and giving rise to unexpected forms of collaboration. The machines, driven by plant electrophysiology data, adapt in response to the plants' electrical activity and evolve over time through machine learning systems. At the same time, the plants respond to their environment and to their relationship with the machines, actively participating in this shared process.
A global artificial intelligence synchronises the behaviour of the soft machines, allowing the knowledge acquired by one machine to be shared across the others, forming a distributed system of learning.
The work takes the form of an installation composed of three small greenhouses inhabited by plants and soft machines. The installation proposes limiting direct human intervention in order to observe how these two forms of life evolve together over time.
